Joe Clarke knew he had to make the most of a swell lining up with a couple of days off work. “I noticed the tide was better for the afternoon and the swell was meant to peak, so I popped the boat in for a fish in the morning”. After catching a few nice fish, he ditched the rod, grabbed his boog gear, and made a mad dash to the Sunshine Coast for what turned out to be 3-5ft of pure perfection.
“Two of my better pits got filmed by Joel Rochford, who I didn’t even know was filming,” Joe recalls. “It just a magical line up!” Stoked beyond belief, Joe hit up videographer Michael Jennings. “I called Jennings straight after to tell him how perfect it was.”
Jennings didn’t waste a second. “Pretty much, I couldn’t sleep. I drove up early and woke Joe to head north after hearing there were waves,” he says. Bright and early the next morning, they headed back for round two. The swell had dropped to 3ft, but it was still firing, and they linked up with old mates for a killer session.
